Assignments

This course requires the completion of two projects and five less-demanding exercises. Each will be discussed at length in lab.

Attendance/participation (13%): You are required to attend this course and activity participate. Missing more than two class meetings without a legitimate documented excuse will result in a reduction of one letter grade. Each additional missed meeting will result in an additional grade reduction.

Quizzes (20% total): Periodically short quizzes will be given to test your knowledge of material presented in the readings.

Exercise 1, Single HTML page (3%): This requires a single HTML document that incorporates typography, color and other relevant material from the course to this period.

Exercise 2, Photoshop (3%): This requires the creation of a photoshop logo or site ID that is placed within an XHTML document and a compressed photograph created in Photoshop.

Exercise 3, Website (linked pages) (15%): This requires the uploading and presentation of multiple HTML pages formatted with CSS.

Exercise 4, Basic animation (3%): This requires that you create a Flash animation, put into a live XHTML document. This will take the form of an advertisement of a real company.

Exercise 5, Basic actionscript (3%): This requires a live Flash movie that includes basic stop and play actions.

Exercise 6, Slideshow (10%): This requires the incorporation of either your own photographs or those produced by students in Advanced Photojournalism. This project will permit the view a series of photos with the ability to stop and play the slideshow.

Final project (30%): Your final project is a online publication done with a group that includes both students from this course and Advanced Photojournalism. You will be provided written, photographic and video content photojournalism students from which you will create a multimedia presentation.
