Three exams (25% each): This course has three equally weighted exams that are non-cumulative in terms of material. The format is a mixture of multiple choice and true/false questions, as well as short answer problems.
Discussion activities (5%): Once during the semester each student will be responsible for a presentation lasting at least 5 minutes about an assigned individual, organization or institution related to journalism history. You will provided with the subject one week prior to each assigned presentation.
Attendance and general participation (10%): During the semester I will note missing students and record absences. If a student misses more than two classes, their final grade will drop one full grade. With each additional absence the final grade will drop an additional letter grade.
Presentation (10%): During each class period a group of students will be responsible for leading a class discussion or presentation. This grade is independent of your individual discussion grade because it will reflect the work of your team.
